Unlocking Your Healing Potential
At Resilient Minds, LLC, we are realizing the full potential of all people to use their inner strengths to overcome adversity

I attended Virginia Tech School of Counseling and Development and graduated in 2009 with a Master of Arts in Education – Counselor Education. I worked as an in-home therapist with children and families experiencing differing levels of crisis for 2 years before moving on to serving as a school therapist for an alternative education program. I realized the need to expand my practice to include more work with adults, so I went on to serve as a director for a mental health skill building and crisis stabilization agency for 5 years. I missed providing more direct service to individuals and families, so I began working as an outpatient counselor, taking referrals for both children, families, and adults. I received my LPC license in Virginia in 2020.
Meet Heather Hamed-Moore
About me:
I’m Heather and I’m so happy you have found my page. I enjoy helping people overcome negative events and traumas to reach their full potential. I believe that we all have the strength to overcome struggles, and that I can best serve others through helping them unlock this potential. Additionally, resiliency is like a muscle, the more we use it, the stronger it becomes.
I provide individual and couples counseling, as well as family counseling sessions. I am LGBTQIA affirming and provide services to trans/gender-expansive individuals as well as all individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+. Being from that community, I have experienced come of the unique barriers common to LGBTQIA folks and come from a safe and affirming perspective.

I also have a passion for working with children and families to overcome barriers to strengthen connections. As a former foster and adoptive parent, who also has a biological child, I understand and have seen firsthand, many of the struggles that foster and adoptive families face. I know what it feels like to not have all the answers when is comes to our children.
I use a variety of treatment modalities and theories depending on your needs. I have training in play therapy, such as using nondirective play, attachment building techniques, and art techniques. I am trained as a Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, and am currently awaiting my final test to receive full certification. I I am also person-centered in my approaches to providing cosuneling services.
